Once the site of a prosperous bootleggers operation during prohibition, Whisky Run Golf Club is a picturesque 27 hole golf course located near the shores of Lake Erie just east of Port Colborne. Each of the three nines is unique in its design, length and challenge.
After purchasing the property in 1984, owner Lou Nieuwland took a walk around the perimeter, came home, and drew up the plans for a golf course.
When construction began, old whisky bottles were randomly discovered all over the property, coining the name of the future golf course.
On June 30th, 1989, the Owl nine opened to the public, and Mr. Hugh MacDowall was its first official member.
In 1993, Whisky Run G.C. expanded to include The Fox nine. And in the Fall of 1998, the property would grow to include The Serpent Nine on the west side of Lorraine Road. The Serpent, gets its name from the shape of the pond as seen from an aerial view.
